I am only including an explanation when I consider it necessary as many of the choices are self-evident to those who have already installed multiple OS in the past. This installation is in a VM (VMware Workstation) with one NIC.
Choose Advanced options and then Graphical expert install and follow the screens by clicking on continue after your choice.
Choose nothing and click CONTINUE
As this is a VM installation there were no problems.
Auto-configure networking? NO (this is a server with a static address)
IP address: xx.xx.xx.xx/24
Name server addresses (DNS): xx.xx.xx.xx 188.8.131.52
Is this information correct? YES
Hostname: linuxsvr02 (linuxsvr01 is Centos 7 installation)
Domain name: example.com
Enable shadow passwords? YES
Allow login as root? YES (in a lab situation I believe it makes life a little easier)
Root password: ?R00tPa55w0rd! x 2 (obviously this your choice)
Create a normal user account now? YES I am calling it "debian" (This is a test account as when AD Domain access is configured I will be able to connect with my user name, this account will have the same password as root to keep life simple).
Username for your account: debian
Choose a password for the new user: ?R00tPa55w0rd!
Partitioning method: Guided - use entire disk and set up LVM
Select disk to partition: normally (sda)
Partitioning scheme: All files in one partition (this is only a test installation)
Write the changes to disks and configure LVM? YES
Name of the volume group for the new system: debian
Choose Finish partitioning and write changes to disk and click continue
Write the changes to disks? YES
Kernel to install: linux-image-amd64 (this is the latest amd64 kernel)
Drivers to include in the initrd: targeted: only include drivers needed for this system
As I only downloaded the first DVD the answer to the question Scan another CD or DVD? NO
Use a network mirror? YES
Protocol for file downloads: http
Debian archive mirror country: your own!
Debian archive mirror: ftp.??.debian.org
HTTP proxy information: leave blank for none
Use non-free software? NO
Use contrib software? NO
Services to use: Those that are ticked by default
Participate in the package usage survey? NO
Choose software to install:
✔ SSH server (to allow the use puTTY)
✔ standard system utilities
Install the GRUB boot loader to the master boot record? YES
Device for boot loader installation: /dev/sda
The motherboard is telling the installation is an EFI and asks the following question
Force GRUB installation to the EFI removable media path: NO
(after multiple installs of this OS saying NO does not cause any problem)
Is the system clock set to UTC? YES
Installation is now complete. Its time to reboot!
