Where to start in describing my professional life and how it fits with the "Man of Many Hats" theme of this site.
To begin, I believe the idiom "A picture is worth a thousand words" can help, the image at the very least shows that I have not stood still going forward.
Having "Many Hats" can not only signify having held numerous posts but can also be a synonym for adaptability or flexibility.
Living and working in diverse countries demands adaptabilty on many levels, as different customs, language and working practices demand a willingness to assimilate new concepts and situations rapidly.
Whilst selling and installing workstations it was essential to have a varied and in-depth knowledge across the whole gamut of IT so as to reconcile the demands of a multigenerational clientele. From social networking to business software through video conferencing, the requests for training were not only diverse but the level and age of students was enormous.
Living in rural France the need for creative solutions was ever present, setting up IP video surveillance in a cow shed at some distance (100m+) from the router, wireless connections in an hotel with 1m thick walls or safeguarding equipment due to vagaries of the power supply structure.
With over 25 years of experience in all aspects of IT whether it be hardware or software related, I remain passionate and committed to keeping abreast of the advances in this field. Having spent 20 years in France I consider myself to be IT bilingual.
I am self-motivated and adaptable with the flexibility to work well as a team member or under my own steam. I possess excellent client facing skills and believe in a meticulous approach towards smooth-running business operations.

From the beginning of my career and throughout my working life the Print Industry has formed the central core.
In my formative years working and owning jobbing printers in Liverpool I covered all aspects of the trade including management. This gave me a solid base for my work as a Print Consultant in both Kenya and Saudi Arabia, comprising, in the main, with the organisation of print rooms and the training of staff.
On my return to the UK in 1983 and my subsequent job as Marketing Assistant at the BBC in London, my main duties included liaison internally with BBC departments and externally with printers with regard to the edition of various publications using the extensive photo collection from the BBC Hulton Picture Library.
From 1987 to 1991 I was the prime mover in the establishment of two companies that utilised the new digital technologies (IT, DTP and high speed photocopying in b/w and colour)in conjunction with traditional printing techniques.
